CFOsoft provides an array of quality financial analytic software solutions including reporting, budgeting, modeling, planning, forecasting, and analysis.
CFOsoft's founder and Owner, John Calahan, has been in the accounting and financial reporting software business for over 30 years. He started his career as a CPA with Arthur Andersen & Co., formed his own CPA firm, and then formed Timeline, Inc. to provide accounting services to his CPA clients in the 1980s.
A common theme to John's career has been the development of spreadsheet software and implementation of spreadsheet applications for clients and customers.
As CEO of Timeline, John had the vision to acquire Why Systems, which created DigiCalc, the first mini-computer spreadsheet. DigiCalc competed with the original personal computer spreadsheet "VisiCalc" and was widely used around the world. Following the acquisition, John was the driving force behind these initiatives:
- Envisioning and assembling the development team for DigiCalc III, a multi-dimensional spreadsheet application that pre-dated current OLAP technologies.
- Developing the concept for Microsoft's "Small Business Financial Manager" that was developed using Timeline's Intellectual Property. The SBFM was a product Microsoft used to attract Lotus 1-2-3 users to Excel.
- Conceptualizing Timeline's Excel-based financial reporting product and building the development team.
John was CEO of Timeline and participated in its public offering in 1996. After leaving Timeline in 1998, John formed CFOsoft with his long-time friend and business associate, the late Fred Dean, to provide better Excel budgeting, reporting, modeling solutions and financial analytic software.
